Milli: Radius Hawthorne’s unofficial receptionist (and beloved diva)

At Radius Hawthorne, visitors aren’t just greeted by staff—they’re welcomed by Milli, the affectionate feline who truly rules the front desk. What began as a single rainy-day visit with her “Mum,” Mel Tabot, has blossomed into a cherished daily routine. Milli now calls the reception counter her headquarters, greeting residents, staff, and visitors alike with her signature blend of charm and quiet confidence.

Bright-eyed and tail-ready at 7 AM

Every morning at the strike of 7 AM, witnesses say you’ll find Milli perched elegantly upon the reception perch, surveying her domain. Her “duties” are simple yet profound: observing everyone who walks in, doling out subtle charisma, tolerating the occasional canine visitor, and—let’s be honest—occasionally demanding a well-deserved pat. When she’s missing, it's not uncommon for folks to whisper, “Where’s Milli today?”

A diva with standards

Don’t let her amiable appearance fool you—Milli’s tastes are refined. While she’d gladly accept treats from well-meaning hands all day, she reserves that perk strictly for Mel. After all, a diva maintains her standards—and her treat budget!

From Timaru stray to reception royalty

At around ten years old, Milli’s journey to Radius Hawthorne is filled with the kind of serendipity only a storybook grants. Once a stray in Timaru, she joined Mel’s house-hunting journey—though Mel had her heart set on a kitten. Milli had other plans. She vaulted into Mel’s lap during a home visit and never left. The three-cat household that followed has a clear star—and it’s Milli, front and center, as she has been for years.

Heart and purrs that bind

More than just a companion, Milli has become a comforting presence for all who walk through Radius Hawthorne’s doors. Her gentle purrs and calm composure offer daily joy, weaving an unspoken bond between herself and everyone she encounters.
